How is this project being funded?
The DRP is funded by a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, secured by Representative John James; $813,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; $800,000 from the City of Mount Clemens’ general fund; $334,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act; and $200,000 from the Downtown Development Authority’s reserve funds.

When will the project be complete?
Construction will be completed on November 1st, 2025. Greenery and amenities will be added in Spring 2026.

Will pedestrian walking access to downtown businesses be maintained?
Yes, pedestrian walking access will be maintained everywhere in Downtown Mount Clemens throughout the project.

What will happen to the DDA’s annual events during the construction period?
All major events, including the summer concert series, the art & craft fairs and more will still occur, though the location may differ based on the event’s specific needs. Please follow our social media pages for more information about our upcoming events.

Where should I park as an alternative to Macomb Place?
All other streets will have parking available, as will our city parking lots. The closest lots to Macomb Place are the Roskopp and New Street lots.

Will the city offer free parking during construction?
The city offers free parking on all weekends and after 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Are all patios and outdoor dining now removed from Cherry Street and Macomb Place?
All outdoor dining patios on Cherry Street or Macomb Place will be closed during construction but will reopen once construction is complete.

- Rauhorn working on light pole installation and pulling electrical wiring.
- Opening Macomb Place for Saturday’s light parade event.
- New Street Parking Lot Work – Fence installation around electrical boxes near brick wall, waiting on firm schedule from DiLisio.
